What it’s for
- Studied as an addition to diabetes care
A branded probiotic formulation studied in people with type 2 diabetes.
Purpose, evidence and practical considerations.
A small company-linked trial found improved post-meal glucose measures in participants taking metformin. Independent replication and evidence in people without diabetes remain limited.
Confidence: weak
Probiotics can cause gastrointestinal symptoms and may be unsuitable in severe illness or immune compromise. Diabetes medicines and glucose data should be managed with a clinician; this does not replace prescribed treatment.
The formulation combines Akkermansia muciniphila with butyrate-producing strains intended to affect microbial metabolites and post-meal glucose handling. Product-specific effects cannot be generalized to other probiotics.
Regulatory status: dietary supplement; not FDA-approved to treat diabetes
