Gastrointestinal effects are the most common short-term issue. Thyroid disease, pregnancy, cancer treatment and medicines warrant clinical review, and product potency cannot be inferred from broccoli weight alone.
Sulforaphane activates cellular stress-response pathways including Nrf2 in human biomarker studies. Conversion from glucoraphanin varies greatly with myrosinase activity, gut microbes and product formulation.
