Photobiomodulation exposes tissue to defined wavelengths and irradiance, with proposed mitochondrial and signalling effects. Dose depends on wavelength, power density, distance, exposure time and treated area; minutes alone are not a transferable dose.

Randomized-trial reviews find condition-specific benefits for some photobiomodulation uses, but evidence quality varies and many outcomes remain low certainty. Broad whole-body longevity or mitochondrial claims are not established clinical outcomes.

Eye protection and device instructions matter. Excess dose can heat or irritate tissue; photosensitising medicines, eye disease, cancer treatment and pregnancy warrant clinician or device-specific review. Panels are not interchangeable without irradiance and wavelength data.
