Correcting deficiency is beneficial. Extra zinc above adequate intake is not an established testosterone or general immune booster; chronic excess can cause copper deficiency.
Confidence: strong
The US adult tolerable upper intake level is 40 mg/day. Repeated high intake can cause nausea and copper deficiency, lower HDL cholesterol and impair immunity. A reported 100 mg daily dose exceeds that upper limit and warrants clinician review.
Zinc supports numerous enzymes, immune function, protein synthesis and reproduction. Supplementation corrects deficiency; hormone or immune benefits above adequate intake are not established.
